In the middle of the night, around 1 AM, on New Year's Day 2015, Mike and I set out to climb to the top of Sri Lanka's most sacred mountain, Adam's Peak (known locally as Sri Pada). Our early departure was necessary to give us enough time to climb the 5,500 incredibly steep steps to the top in time for sunrise. It was grueling, but somehow made less so by seeing elderly barefoot worshippers doing the very same hike.
When we finally reached the top, it was still dark, so we treated ourselves to a cup of tea while we waited for the sun to come up. Finally, dawn began to break. We, along with other travelers and local worshipers, stood speechless by the beauty that unfolded before us. Far down below was Hill Country – misty mountains, emerald green tea plantations, and cloud forests.
After taking in the view, it was time to head back down all 5,500 steps to the bottom. Each twist and turn revealed a new, equally spectacular view. By the time we reached the bottom, we had decided that it was easily one of the greatest experiences of our lives.
This place is very special to us so we wanted to share it with others through a fragrance that reminds us of it – woody cedarwood, fresh cypress, earthy frankincense, and citrusy bergamot. You can experience it for yourself with one of our candles or incense.
